EMERALD HILL HOUSE

It all started when…

We travelled to Sri Lanka on holiday several years ago and fell in love with this beautiful gentle island. With stunning landscapes ranging from golden untouched beaches, to green rice paddies, fresh mountainous cool temperate tea estates and pretty local villages, we just knew we had found our paradise and the search began for our ‘Best Marigold Hotel’.

After many years of searching and many 100’s of kilometres my husband found the perfect spot that really spoke to him, he felt a connection to this lovely head village house, a ‘Grande Old Dame’ who was crying out to be lovingly restored to her original glory. Sat atop a 9 acre hill covered in a rubber plantation, 10 minutes by Tuk Tuk to the beach, the leafy green views to the coast on one side and the mountains on the other, the constant light gentle breeze that flows through the house and across the pool is joyous!

Just as wondrous are the sunrises and sunsets, from one side of the pool to the other, as the little village and Buddhist monastery in the distance wakes up or settles down at the end of the day to the sounds of peacocks calling in the distance and the fireflies appearing as night sets in.

There is still much work to be done, especially from my side as the interior designer to get her details ready over 2026 as we will eventually be renting her out to be enjoyed by all!

We move from Singapore to the house by end of November this year and I will set up my studio there, so business as usual online!

Much arty love,

Louise X
